Global Research Must Continue in Areas Other Than COVID-19 to Advance Treatments

June 30, 2020

The global COVID-19 pandemic has affected all of us. It has changed the way many companies do business, and it has impacted how clinical research is conducted. At CTI, we, like so many other businesses, have adapted - creatively finding solutions for our clients to keep trials moving and jumping through any and all hurdles to get new programs started, while ensuring the safety of our employees.

We work in complex and critically-ill patient populations, often in diseases that are unrelenting, even during a global crisis. Children with rare, degenerative diseases continue to show progression.  Patients with end stage organ disease still require new and innovative treatment options.  New cancer diagnoses continue. Life-saving research is required continue to combat these diseases. Our team of global employees have continued to fight, sometimes from our dining room tables or kitchen counters.  From balconies in Italy, basements in Chicago, and patios in Brazil, we continued to find ways to bring treatment to patients; many have no other options.

Our work continues and we will keep collaborating with our sponsors and partners to move programs forward; to start new studies, to hold virtual investigator meetings, to open sites and enroll patients. We will not let these patients be overlooked or allow these projects to fail just because of current circumstances. Clinical research must continue to progress, and the CTI team is continuing to work all hours of the day to help these drugs and devices advance for  critically-ill patients around the world.

The CTI team was recently recognized for their hard work and dedication, as they were named #1 CRO in the world for Quality at the 2020 CRO Leadership Awards. CTI won an award in 5 of the 6 categories, including Capabilities, Compatibility, Expertise, Quality, and Reliability. CTI was also the only CRO to be recognized as "Champion" in all 5 of those categories as well, which means the company scored 1½ standard deviation or more above the weighted average in each of the core categories. CTI was the only Champion in the Quality category, outperforming nearly 30 other recognized CROs from around the world.

"The CTI team has always been dedicated to providing the highest quality service to our sponsors," remarks Timothy Schroeder, Founder and CEO of CTI. "Congratulations to the other 30 or so CROs, who were chosen out of thousands for their high standards. We are extremely proud to be recognized as the CRO with the highest quality in the world. We pride ourselves on all of these award qualities - being reliable, providing expertise, being easy to work with, etc., and it is an honor to consistently hear from an external, unbiased source that we are successful in demonstrating those characteristics to our partners."

CTI, with an annual average staff retention rate of 95%, has been working for three decades in the drug development industry across North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia-Pac, and Middle East, specializing in clinical research programs involving critically ill patient populations, and has more than 30 offices worldwide to serve more than 200 pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device clients. The company is currently managing more than twenty active COVID-19 trials for treatment and prevention.

The Year of Hope

CTI Cares - Providing Hope to our Communities
The CTI Cares program was established in response to the great interest of our employees who want to give back to society, and in part due to the prior success we’ve had in charitable giving programs. Each month, one or more employee-nominated charities is spotlighted and supported by our employees and the company as a whole. This month, in lieu of a single organization, we are encouraging all those that are able to make a donation to support their local charities and nonprofits that are providing aid to those affected by COVID-19.

Looking for a great COVID-19 cause to support? CTI is proud to contribute to Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky's Coronavirus Relief Fund. The donations they receive will go directly to local, nonprofits that are experiencing increased demand for resources in response to the coronavirus.
